Striker Gaston Sangoy & center back Walter Ibáñez to join Mumbai City FC for ISL 2016




Mumbai, 27th July 2016: Mumbai City FC today announced the signing of two South American players from Argentina and Uruguay for the third season of the Indian Super League. These overseas stars are all set to strengthen and reinforce the squad and will be excellent additions to the squad for the upcoming season.

Gaston Sangoy, a 31 year Argentinian striker has previously won the Cyprus Cup in 2009-10 and more recently, the Polish I Liga in 2015-16. Having represented some of the major clubs throughout his career including Sporting Gijon, Apollon and Boca Juniors to name a few, Sangoy has continually shown fortitude when it has come to his performance. Be it in the toughest leagues and competitions such as the La Liga and the Europa League, Sangoy is now set to enthrall football fans in India.

Joining Sangoy, would be Uruguayan center back, Walter Ibáñez who has spent a major part of his career playing for the top divisions in South America. Ibáñez has been the recipient of the Peru Copa Inca in 2014 and the Top Chilean League in 2014-15 and is looking forward to bringing home the cup for his new team Mumbai City FC this year.

Alexandre Guimaraes, Coach, Mumbai City FC today said, “Gaston is a proven striker and a goal getter. He is a great asset up front and will always keep the opposition on their toes. Walter is a winner and if you see over the last two seasons, he has had over 60 appearances. That is a testament to his skill that he is a permanent fixture in the team for his coach. I am looking forward to working with both of them and forming a winning team."
