Riteish Deshmukh gorges on Koli food on the sets of Banjo!

Riteish Deshmukh had a whale of time shooting for his upcoming musical drama, Banjo, not just because of the film’s subject and his character being close to his heart but the fact that he got the opportunity to savour his favourite traditional Koli cuisine on the sets.

Since a major part of the movie, produced by Eros International and directed by critically-acclaimed filmmaker Ravi Jadhav has been shot at Mumbai’s Worli village (Koliwada), the locals used to get homemade Koli food, especially for Riteish and the film’s crew on the sets.

A source says, “The village locals are very fond of Riteish and used to call him ‘Mauli’ (his next Marathi film) on the sets. To express their love for their favourite actor, they used to cook authentic Koli delicacies including Koli fish curry, Phatlun Shipi Curry and different types of seafood.”

Riteish says, “It was really nice gesture on the part of the locals to get some lip-smacking Koli food on the sets everyday, which the entire cast used to enjoy. It was like a big Maharashtrian family enjoying different Koli delicacies almost every day.”

Banjo, produced by Eros International and directed by Ravi Jadhav, starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri, releases on 23rd September, 2016
