North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti 2016 spearheaded by Sharbani Mukherji

At the unveiling of the murti present were Bhappi Lahiri, Mrs.Shamita Mukherji , Bappa Lahari, Debu Mukherji, Aneel Murarka*  and the  Making Murti ceremony of Maa Durga's idol 17' feet tall and 50 ton weight which will be installed (Sthapana) and only murti to be fork lifted ,at one of those biggest and oldest Pujas in Mumbai- North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti 2016.

The preparations for the much awaited Durga Puja festival are going on in full swing.  Mr. Bappi Lahiri, Mr. Debu Mukerji, Smt. Shamita Mukerji, Sharbani Mukherji and Bappa Lahiri, all visited the site Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Palika Krida Bhavan, opposite Shivaji Park, Dadar where the idols are being made by Mr. Amit Pal & his team who have come especially from Kolkatta.  The materials for making the Murti have been specially bought from Kolkatta - straw (khor), wood, bamboo , nails, shulki (rope made from jute), Ganga maati  (clay from the banks of the river Ganges ), bele maati  ( sand from the banks of river Ganges), cloth , particles of chalk for the white color is mixed with other colors, Sarees, Jewellery, false hair and varnish is used. 

This year the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti is celebrating its 69th year. Mr. Bappi Lahiri has been associated with this puja since his childhood as his parents Shri. Aparesh  Lahiri and Shrimati.  Bansari  Lahiri were also members of this puja  which was started by Padmashri Sasadhar Mukerji  and Smt . Satirani Mukerji . The tradition continues from generation to generation of making this puja "GHARUA PUJA" (family puja) where all are welcome to seek the blessings of Maa Durga.  The Puja is starting from 7th October till 11th October 2016 at Tulip Star Hotel.
