KBC 9 AND AMITABH BACHCHAN SUPPORT VERSOVA BEACH CLEAN UP INITATIVE

The upcoming episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 9 will have noted lawyer and activist Afroz Shah on the Hot Seat for the special Friday episode ‘Nai Chah Nai Rah’ to raise awareness and pledge support to cleanliness drive at Juhu and Versova beach.

Afroz Shah has been the brainchild of Versova Beach Clean Up initiative and has been an inspiration to many. His efforts have been recognized globally wherein The United Nations conferred him with the title of ‘Champion of the Earth’. After receiving an overwhelming response, he now intends to clean up 19 beaches across the city. With two years into this initiative with over 100 volunteers and BMC members supporting him, Afroz has successfully disposed-off garbage and plastic close of 7000 tonnes.

His efforts and exemplary work towards beach cleaning, was recognized and appreciated on the show. His story inspired everyone present on the set including the host Amitabh Bachchan. Infact Mr. Bachchan was so impressed with the efforts and response that he, along with the KBC 9 team too joined in this drive by extending their support in form of contributing two tractors and an excavator, much to Afroz’s surprise and delight.

Talking to us exclusively, Mr. Bachchan said, “This year KBC is inviting many unsung real life champions who have helped or contributed towards betterment of our society. The show becomes a national platform all those heroes to come forward to talk about their initiative and seek more participation from viewers across the country to help them achieve their ambition. Afroz’ work is exemplary and we as a team thought of extending support in our own way.” Mr. Bachchan ends the conversation on a funny note by saying, “Next time you find Juhu beach unusually clean, please thank Afroz & his team for their cleanliness drive. I would urge everyone in the country to help Afroz clean one beach at a time. ”

Thrilled by Mr. Bachchan’s contribution, thrilled Afroz Shah said, “It was a mind blowing and an amazing experience to be on the show in front of Mr Amitabh Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty Kundra. I was struggling for approximately 100 weeks to get the right machine and the right apparatus on the beach. Thanks to Kaun Banega Crorepati 9 and Mr Amitabh Bachchan to have made this possible. I got an excavator and a tractor with a trolley and to top it up, won a good amount that will help me get good materials for the beach cleaning. What more could I have asked for? My heart goes out and I have a deep sense of gratitude, respect love for what the team has done for me.”
