Aditya Roy Kapur brushes up on Indian history for ‘Kalank’
Producer Karan Johar’s ‘Kalank’ is a magnum opus both in terms of the
ensemble cast as well as the historical setting. Stepping it up for the bigticket
film, Aditya Roy Kapur has taken extra measures to prepare for his
role. The actor cut off from social interactions for a month and read a lot of
books on Indian history including Jawaharlal Nehru’s The Discovery Of
India. If that wasn’t all, Aditya also worked closely with the film’s writerdirector
Abhishek Varman to better understand India, the way it was
during the ’40s.
A source close to the actor revealed, “Aditya is a voracious reader and
after he signed ‘Kalank’ he decided to read a lot of books on Indian
history. He also watched a lot of black and white films from that era to
understand the popular sentiment of that time. He also worked closely
with the film’s designers on his look in the film.”
Details of the film have been kept under wraps. Aditya is currently shooting a schedule with Alia Bhatt and since they are
shooting crucial scenes, the makers have decided to shoot with a limited number of crew members and they’re all bound by a
confidentiality clause.
Nevertheless, Aditya has found a lot of details in the history of the country and that’s helped him get in sync with his character.
