Smita Gondkar is known for her glamorous avatar and outgoing characters in several Marathi films. The Bhay actor, however, seemed to be in a shell during the first few weeks of her appearance in Bigg Boss Marathi. Revealing the reason, Smita says, “I became very conscious of my Marathi. I was constantly worried as my thinking language is English. In films, it is easy to speak as you know what comes next. Here, it has to be a free-flowing and spontaneous conversation. Hence, I had trouble. That is why I would be silent. But worked on it and by the end of the show I managed to speak only in Marathi.”
Having spent over 90 days being part of a reality show, Smita had planned to switch off everything and take a week-long break once she was out. “Well, that has not been possible. I have been back to work immediately. I am currently dubbing for Marathi film Love Betting, starring Chirag Patil. Then in August to September I will begin shoot in London (UK) for another Marathi film,” says the Mr & Mrs Unwanted (2016) actor.
Smita’s fans have been appreciating her calm and grounded attitude and she is glad they noticed. “I am a very positive person. I do not get affected by negativity nor do I spread it. So, I was myself throughout the show. Hence, I did not have to pretend nor did people notice any change. I am pretty balanced that way,” she says.
Smita doesn’t regret not winning the show and is happy that she turned out to be the second runner-up. She says, “I am happy that I could complete the show and people saw the real me.”
