'Pataakha' actor to play a clerk in Sushant Singh Rajput’s next production

Saanand Verma, seen in films like 'Raid' and 'Mardaani', plays a grey

character in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 'Pataakha'. He plays Patel, a lecherous, sexstarved

man, who is also the richest in the village. Saanand says, “He has

too many obscene ideas in his head. However, he cannot do anything to

fulfil his sexual desires except finding someone to marry.”

He adds, “Marriage evades Patel. Finally, he exploits the two sisters,

played by Radhika Madan and Sanya Malhotra, by using the power of

money. At one point, he even tries to marry them. Eventually, he brings

chaos into their lives.” Given his character, Saanand didn’t speak to the

leading ladies even off camera. He explains, “I created negativity even off

camera, so that it looks natural on screen. I kept away from them. It was

easy to do that, because I am a shy person.”

In the next few weeks, Saanand will start shooting for Sushant Singh Rajput’s next, a yet-to-be titled film, directed by Nitesh

Tiwari. It’s an extended cameo and Saanand will play the know-it-all clerk of the boys’ hostel, who advises Sushant’s character

at important junctures. “I don’t have too many days to shoot, but I am excited to team up with Nitesh. He’s a brilliant director,”

he sums up.
