CBFC justifies its decision to order 20 cuts in former chief Pahlaj Nihalani's "Rangeela Raja" says the hero is misogynist

The Central Board of Film Certification has justified its decision to demand
20 cuts in the upcoming film 'Rangeela Raja', written and produced by its
former chairman Pahlaj Nihalani. Nihalani had approached the High Court
earlier this month, claiming the cuts suggested by the body were illogical
and meaningless.
The former chairman is infamous for brutally censoring films during his
tenure as CBFC chief between 2015 and 2017. He was sacked from the
position in August 2017.
In an affidavit filed in the Bombay High court, the CBFC has stated that the
board had taken strong objection to how 'Rangeela Raja' glorifies violence
and objectified women through the actions of its hero. The film includes rape, adultery, treating women as a commodity for
sensual pleasures and naming women in obscene terms.
CBFC has also pointed out that the film glorified its male lead's misogyny. The board stressed that the film portrays an entirely
wrong example to the children.
