The day of Indian pride is here. You must have woken up with patriotic songs being played on loudspeaker around you. And that is the magic of Republic Day. Obviously, there are a lot of issues in the country that still need to be addressed. So we got some TV celebrities to talk about their thoughts on the things they want to change in the country. While some addressed population, others addressed crime against women. Here are the things TV celebrities want to see a change this year...
Tinaa Dattaa: I feel we have also somewhere fallen back in taking those steps, especially when it comes to respecting mother nature and our surroundings. As a responsible citizen, I pledge to completely avoid the use of plastic in my daily activities while also contributing effectively to the ‘Swach Bharat’ campaign that was started by our Prime Minister. I hope several others, like me, also take this conscious step to make India a cleaner nation for its residents.
Krishna Bharadwaj: I think reservation should be banned. I think that real talent should be given jobs and work. Merit should be according to the potential and efficiency of the person and not according to caste. Because of the reservation system, a lot of talented and deserving people don't get work.
Khalid Siddiqui: What I wanted to change is already done by the article 377. Everyone should have the freedom to choose their partners, irrespective of gender. It’s all about our individuality, our choice, and our thoughts and preference. So, I think no one should judge others.
Ssharad Malhotra: We must say no to corruption. I am a proud Indian and especially after portraying the great Maharana Pratap on national television, my love and passion for my country have grown by leaps and bounds, Jai Hind.
Rohitashv Gour: I want the laws of the country with regard to the punishment of rape cases to be stricter. I think the juvenile laws suggest that the accused should be sent for reformation. That is sometimes not a good solution. You can take the example of Nirbhaya case where the culprit, after doing such a heinous crime, is only sent for rehabilitation. I think for such crimes they should be given death penalty.
Arjun Bijlani: I think the government should frame laws which enforce 'girl child education' as an obligation on the parents.
Mohammad Nazim: I think laws should be made on population control and severely enforced on the citizens otherwise the developing nature of the country will lead to no results. The more the population, the fewer resources must be used to continue in a sustainable environment.
Jasmin Bhasin: I would want the government to make the laws for crime against women stricter. The decision should be speedy keeping in mind that it is not misused against anybody.
Dhananjay Pandey: I really think a lot needs to be changed in the entertainment industry. People need to make sure that it doesn't become a frivolous industry. There is a lack of professionalism in the industry. I really think some laws can be made to regulate it.
While some celebrities spoke about the things that they want to change this year, there were a few of them who spoke about the day. What Republic day means to them! They shared their memories, nostalgia about the day and all of it which you can relate to.
Pearl V Puri: Freedom is our birth right, being republic inspires us to be free within ourselves and live a life we are proud to live.
Adnan A Khan: Follow your dreams, or you’ll spend the rest of your life working for someone. To enjoy democracy we need to be republic. It brings us absolute freedom.
Shubhangi Atre: The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage. Being Republic is an opportunity and taking it for granted is the biggest mistake.
Tejasswi Prakash: Being republic is to understand the importance of your own freedom and to show respect about others' freedom too.
Manish Goel: Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness. And being republic allows us to enjoy freedom which brings happiness.
Helly Shah: Freedom is found when we let go of who we’re supposed to be and embrace who we really are. And to be who we are, we need to be a republic.
Kunal Jaisingh: Just living is not enough, one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. And one can achieve that only when we are a republic.
