Omung Kumar’s Gujarati connect

Ever since the biopic on PM Narendra Modi was announced, the film has been in the news for various reasons. While Vivekanand Oberoi plays the title role, Darshan Kumaar, Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan and Barkha Bisht also play important characters. Zarina Wahab is playing Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi and Barkha Bisht is playing his wife Jashodaben.

The film is currently being shot across different locations in Gujarat and director Omung Kumar has picked up several Gujarati words in the process. The filmmaker interacts with a lot of locals and has even shown an interest in learning the language.

In fact, thanks to the fact that he has been on location for almost two months, he can understand Gujarati rather well and even speak some words. Kumar was first in Gujarat for the film’s recce and is now shooting the ambitious biopic there. Since he has a flair for languages, it didn’t take him long to learn the nuances of Gujarati, which, in turn, helped him understand PM Modi’s speeches better. In fact, Kumar would spend time with crew members between shots to understand the dialect better and speak in Gujarati with the crew and locals.

This biopic will showcase Modi’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat and finally, the Prime Minister of India.
