Inmate who is an aspiring writer undergoing a life term at District Open Jail seeks help to showcase his literary talent and an entry into Guinness Book of World Records

Maharashtra, 26th April, 2019: It is rightly said that talent can emerge from the most unexpected of places. Walls and boundaries can shackle the body but not the mind and spirit.  Nobody could exemplify this more clearly than Ganesh Ghuge (33), an inmate undergoing a life term at the District Open Prison, Paithan in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. A man who have served more than 11 years sentence till date and has completed his formal education only till standard 10, Ganesh has never let his imprisonment confine his creativity and inculcate a positive outlook in himself and people around him.

“Ganesh epitomizes the fact that if a man sets his mind to a particular task, whatever may be the difficulties or impediments in the path, he will achieve it. His love for literature and his literary skills are outstanding. A little encouragement, help and motivation can go a long way into setting in motion his literary career and it will be a short time before he becomes an accomplished writer. He is a perfect example of the fact that talent can bloom anywhere, we need to nurture it and provide it with the necessary growth and sustenance,” stated his brother Shivaji Ghuge

Ganesh has written more than 13 books in the last 2 years. His literary works comprise 9 novels, 3 spiritual books and one book of poetry collection. With a view to ensuring a vast readership outreach, he is seeking the help of publishers or NGO's to get his works published and showcased. Given the fact that writing 13 books in 2 years while undergoing a prison term is no small achievement, he is also seeking an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Paithan Open Jail is spread over 335 Hectares of land, Which includes forested area and houses around 500 inmates. This jail have lower security and more space for convicts to work in occupations such as farming. The inmates are selected on the basis of good behavior and the possibility of rehabilitation after release.
